On 29 September 2025, MSOCB conducted a competency development program on Professional and Technical Communication at the BRDC Experimental Farm, Laitmynsaw, with the objective of strengthening the communication capabilities of certification personnel in their interactions with farmers, farmer groups, field inspectors, and operators. The program focused on developing practical communication skills required for effective field-level engagement, including the clear and accurate communication of technical requirements, farmer interviewing techniques, active listening, and professional conduct during inspections. Participants were also trained in written communication practices, with emphasis on the accurate recording of field observations and the preparation of well-structured inspection reports. The curriculum addressed common communication challenges encountered in the field, such as language barriers, varying literacy levels, and the complexity of technical information, while reinforcing empathy-driven communication as an essential component of effective stakeholder engagement. Through role-playing exercises, scenario-based simulations, and group discussions, participants gained hands-on experience in managing challenging situations, including the communication of non-conformities, explanation of corrective actions, and resolution of difficult stakeholder interactions. The training significantly enhanced the ability of MSOCB personnel to communicate effectively with farming communities, thereby improving inspection quality, strengthening stakeholder confidence, and supporting the overall integrity and effectiveness of MSOCB’s organic certification operations.
